HOW WE MET

πŸ•‰οΈ Meeting in India

Soisci and Ryan met in India at a meditation retreat with their spiritual teacher Rajivji in March 2018.

πŸ–ŠοΈ Becoming Penpals

They became penpals and began writing each other regularly. Over many months, their friendship deepened and blossomed, as they connected intimately through sharing their love for spirituality, nature, culture, food, travel, movement, and each other’s presence in their lives.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» Long-Distance Dating

Ryan made the ‘big move’ asking Soisci out over a Skype call a year and a half after they’d met. They dated long distance for the first 7 months of their relationship with Ryan living in Abu Dhabi and Soisci living in Sydney. They met whenever and wherever they could including California, Abu Dhabi and Sydney.

πŸ“¦ Ryan’s “Move” to Australia

Ryan was planning to move to Australia to join Soisci in July 2020. The world had a different timeline planned for them, and Ryan got stuck in Australia while visiting during the Easter break in 2020. As Australia closed their borders and lockdowns began, Ryan “moved” to Australia 4 months earlier than planned and without any of his belongings!

🦘 Life in Canberra

This was actually a great stroke of luck! The lockdowns allowed them to start their lives together, rather than being stuck apart. Ryan and Soisci settled in Canberra for 3 years starting their life together.

πŸ’ The Proposal

Ryan proposed to Soisci by a peaceful waterfall in Kuringai National Park in Sydney, just behind their close friend’s home on Boxing Day in 2022.

🏞️ Moving to Tasmania

They then moved from Canberra to Hobart in February 2023. They’re excited for this new chapter and have fallen in love with the wild and beautiful island of Tasmania.

WEDDING PARTY

NICK MICHIE
BEST MAN

Nick and Ryan met while teaching in Thailand and became fast friends. They made a soulful connection through their shared pursuit of the spiritual path and went on many fun adventures. Nick and Ryan later ended up working together again at an international school in Abu Dhabi. They lived and worked there together for 6 years until Nick and his lovely wife Natalie moved back to England with their two children.

Β

KATALIN HANAPPI
MAID OF HONOR

Soisci and Katalin met at high school in Brighton when they were 16 years old. They only shared one year studying together, but their bond was a strong one and they have remained close friends ever since. They connect deeply through nature, art, culture and spirituality.Β  Over the years they’ve met up in Vienna, Bangkok, Barbados and Sydney. She is Soisci’s kindred sister!

🏨

ACCOMMODATION

Soisci’s parents live on the East Coast of Barbados in Cattlewash, and the wedding will be held on the West Coast. Both have easy access to beautiful beaches. Please be aware East Coast beaches are not good for swimming, however they’re great for surfing, if you’re into that!

We are providing a list of accommodations for you on the East Coast of the island, since they’re harder to find.

The West Coast is the more touristy side of the island with many restaurants and amenities nearby. There are plenty of options available, especially in St. James and St. Peter.

The East Coast is cheaper and immersed in nature, but it’s further away from amenities like grocery stores or restaurants. Everything including swimmable beaches and restaurants is a short car trip away. If you choose to stay on the East Coast, then consider getting a rental car, which we can help you book locally.Β

Many of the accommodations can be shared by groups of friends or families to save money. For those who prefer more privacy, hotels and smaller Airbnbs are also available.

March is one of the busiest tourist months in Barbados, so the sooner you can book accommodation, the better.

If you have any questions or need help booking accommodation, please contact either Soisci or Ryan.

REGISTRY

Your presence celebrating our special day is more than we can wish for, and no gift is necessary. However, we know that some of you would still like to gift us something.

For those that want to give, we’ve setup a Honeymoon & Home Fund to support the next chapter of our lives together.

We’re planning our honeymoon as a lovely getaway in Tasmania. There’s still so much for us to explore here and we want to connect more to this beautiful island we call home. We’ll be sure to share photos and stories of our adventure exploring different scenic spots around Tasmania’s wild landscape!

We’re also planning on moving into a new place when we get back to Tasmania, so funds will also help us buy furniture, appliances and other household amenities that we’ll need.

Thank you again, so much for being a part of our special day! Your presence is most important to us. If you do choose to give, we’ll be ever grateful for your generous gift.
